Hamilton Ponders, Postpones, Iowa Game Visit

Yours truly talked today to the father and head coach of All-American running back Lynell Hamilton from Stockton, Calif., Edison.

There has been talk about All-American running back Lynell Hamilton (Stanford Nike stats: 6-0, 195 lbs., 4.25 shuttle, 28-inch vertical jump ... 4.4 in the 40, 3.0 GPA) from Stockton, Calif., Edison coming to Michigan for his official visit this weekend, for the Iowa game. The Stockton Edison's head coach, Booker Guyton, told us, "Lynell had a hip pointer two weeks ago and had to come out. He didn't play last week week either. With his injury he didn't think he'd be playing yet. So he scheduled visits to Michigan and Miami the next two weekends. But he's gotten clearance to play by the doctors."

Lynell's father added, "We were trying to get over to Michigan this weekend for an official visit. But the flights did not work out, not with his own game again Friday night. He will schedule Michigan for after the season. He was also trying to plan an official visit to Miami the next weekend, but he's canceling that as well -- the SAT is that weekend. He will visit Michigan and Miami, any other visits are up in the air."

Coach Guyton went on: "We're going to move the Michigan visit to November when we're done with our season here. Lynell went on an official visit to Oregon last weekend. He has ruled out all the instate schools ... he's considering Oregon, Michigan, and Miami ... then next is Oklahoma. He's excited about coming out to Michigan [for a visit]."

Coach Guyton also mentioned that, "Lynell and [Michigan commitment] Sam Keller ran into each other at a scrimmage and talked together a little bit."

Stockton Edison is 6-0 now. In the five games Hamilton appeared in he rushed for 672 yards and seven touchdowns on just 53 carries. He also has 10 receptions for 124 yards and two scores.

One other thing: regarding Ruben Jackson, Hamilton's wide receiver teammate, Coach Gutyon said, "Michigan was recruiting him, but they've slacked off a little."
