Brandon Smith: U-M, not-U-M, U-M once again!

GBW talked with the Wolverines' newest commitment, New Brunswick, N.J. safety Brandon Smith about his recruiting journey -- he had a couple U-Turns!

GoBlueWolverine talked to the Wolverines' newest commitment, New Brunswick, N.J. safety Brandon Smith, who announced for U-M during the first quarter of the Army All American game.

Talk about how you came to your decision?

"I always liked Michigan. I grew up being a fan. Then coach coach Carr retired, and it threw me off. I was really gonna go to South Carolina -- I really wanted to play for coach Tyrone Nix. But then he got fired, and at the same time Rich Rodriquez got hired at Michigan.

"So it just seemed like fate for me to be a Wolverine."

So what do you think of Rich Rodriquez?

"He's cool. He and coach Gibson were recruiting me when they were at West Virginia, so I already know them."

Through the hirings and firings, who stayed on you to keep Michigan on your list?

"Chris Singletary. He was on me the whole time."

So what are the coaches saying about playing time?

"Oh, I'm playing right away!"
