Visitors Witness MSU Massacre

This was a 'hide the women and children' game, but in prominent attendance were some top senior and undergrad recruits, including three official visitors.

Official visitors:

1. All-American defensive back/‘athlete' Ryan Mundy (PSU Nike stats: 6-2, 200 lbs., 16 reps of 185 lbs.; 4.45 in the 40, 10.7 100 meters, 290-lb. bench press, 2.7 GPA/830 SAT in 2001) from Pittsburgh, Penn., Woodland Hills (teammate of Steve Breaston). Note: Breaston, if anything, looked bigger than advertised -- perhaps 6-3, 210+ lbs.

2. and 3. Hanging around (and heading to the Chop House along with their hosts) together: All-American wide receiver Jayson Swain (Alabama Nike stats: 6-2, 205 lbs., 4.45 in the 40, 34-inch vertical jump, 2.8 GPA/15 ACT) from Huntsville, Alabama, Grissom (TheInsiders' #65 prospect); and All-American defensive back Paul Oliver (6-0, 180 lbs., 4.42 in the 40) from Kennesaw, Georgia, Harrison (TheInsiders' #23 prospect). Michigan is considered long shots for both, but of course when there is an official visit there is always a chance.

Unofficial visitors:

- A few young men that would look very good (and somehow, vaguely familiar) in the Maize and Blue: Brian Griese, Ian Gold, Steve Everett (in his shoulder-length golden locks), Jake Frysinger.

- 'Holding court' was former Wolverine star Mike Keller, with his son: Michigan commitment quarterback Sam Keller (2001 Michigan camper, 6-4, 205 lbs., 4.85 in the 40) from Danville, Calif., San Ramon Valley. He is Tom Lemming's #15 quarterback. Note: Keller looked a true 6-3+, and a wiry 200+ lbs.

- Michigan commitment All-American Linebacker Jim Presley (2002 Michigan camper, MSU Nike stats: 6-2 1/2, 215 lbs., 4.56 in the 40, 4.06 in the shuttle; 10.8 100 meters, 375-lb. bench press, 2.9 GPA/19 ACT) from Milford, Mich., Highland (TheInsiders #64 prospect).

- Junior offensive lineman Alex Mitchell (6-4, 300 lbs.) from Bay City Central. This was his third straight Michigan home game.

- Junior linebacker Roger Allison (6-2, 225 lbs.) from Lake Orion, Mich. He is considered one of the top ten instate juniors.

- Junior 'athlete' Mario Uratia (6-3, 200 lbs.) from Fern Creek, Michigan.

- Sophomore running back Kevin Grady (2002 Michigan camper, 5-10, 180 lbs.) from East Grand Rapids, Mich. Grady is considered one of the top three instate sophomores.

- Sophomore defensive tackle Terrance Taylor (MSU Nike stats: 6-0, 294 lbs., and an impressive 24 repetitions of 185 lbs. in the bench press) from Muskegon Mich. Taylor is considered one of the top three instate sophomores.

Official visits postponed due to playoff games.
- All-American defensive/tight end Doug Van Dyke (2002 Michigan camper, 6-4, 245 lbs., 4.8 in the 40, 2.4 GPA/21 ACT) from Marshall, Mich. (The Insiders' #81 prospect).

(The Insiders' #2 prospect). Note that the home team gets to decide if the game is Friday morning or Saturday afternoon, and the Saginaw administration picked Saturday.
- Running back/safety Jerome Jackson (MSU Nike stats: 5-11 1/2, 193 lbs. ... 4.45 in the 40, 3.5 GPA/16 ACT) from Saginaw, Mich. (The Insiders' #58 running back).
