Kevin Newsome, the high regarded run-pass quarterback out of Virginia, is an easy going young man. When talking with him, it's evident that he thinks about what he is going to say before he says it: "I am like my dad in that way," he confessed to GoBlueWolverine.
Kevin already has scholarship offers from Michigan, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Penn St., Maryland and North Carolina to name just a few. And so, with recruiting reviving up at the Newsome household, Kevin and his family family is making sure they are all on the same page. That is why very soon they will start to tour some of the schools that Kevin is interested in.
One of those schools that they told GBW they will be visiting shortly will be the University of Michigan, on April 12th for their spring football game.
What will be some points of focus when they visit Michigan? "Academics are very high on the list," says Kevin Sr., and Kevin Jr. concurs: "Academics are very important. I am qualified. I scored very well on my SAT test and I am in the National Honor Society."
There are certain other things that Mr. Newsome has in mind as well:
"The school's playing scheme and depth chart are what we will surely be paying close attention to."
"It will also be very important how comfortable that he is at a school ... and to have a school that will look out for him."
The Newsome family is very appreciative of the attention that their son has garned. "We are blessed to have a choice of colleges that he can attend," Mr. Newsome said.
Kevin and his parents are looking forward to getting out on the road to evaluate each school to make sure that Kevin can make an educated decision.
Stay tuned for Part Two of GoBlueWolverine's interview with the Newsomes -- father-and-son.
