Cleve. St. Ig. Dan Fox a Busy Man

Cleveland St. Ignatius S/OLB Dan Fox has been making unofficial visits this spring -- including a couple to Michigan. And, he's been collecting schollie offers as he goes ...

Cleveland, Ohio St. Ignatius' Dan Fox (6-3, 215, 3.6) plays safety in high school, but most college coaches are looking at him to play outside linebacker at the next level.

Fox has been making unofficial visits this spring -- including two to Michigan.

His first stop was at Michigan's winter Junior Day.

Naturally he was most impressed with strength and conditioning Coach Mike Barwis. "He has a lot of energy and you can tell he loves his job," Fox told GBW. "He is very energetic and I saw him getting those people working very hard, very hard. They have great facilities and they're getting even better with the stadium renovations and the new indoor practice facility."

"I also talked with Coach Hopson (linebackers coach) and Bruce Tall (his area recruiter) at junior day and really enjoyed getting to know those coaches."

Fox returned to Ann Arbor soon after for another visit.

"I went to a Michigan practice as well (March 15) ... and then headed to Michigan State to look at their program as well."

Dan went to Cincinnati the weekend before his U-M/MSU junket and really liked the visit along with the coaches and facilities.

And this past week, his spring break, the three sport athlete (football, basketball, and track) took a trip to Virginia and Maryland ... and now he's getting ready for a track meet this weekend.

He picked up scholarship offers from almost everywhere he stopped -- all except (so far) Michigan.

"Right now I have around 10 offers (including Virginia, Cincinnati, Indiana, Northwestern, North Carolina State, Michigan State and Maryland). I am just trying to gather information right now about the teams that are interested along with seeing what program I might fit best. After spring break, it will be tough to be able to visit any schools with track meets almost every weekend."

In track Fox, is a high hurdler, and was a regional qualifier as a sophomore.

As a junior footballer, Fox had 42 solo tackles, 19 assists and three interceptions from his safety position as St. Ignatius finished 8-3, losing to Cleveland Glenville in the Ohio playoffs.

As far as his senior season goes, Dan said, "We should be very good with a lot of players coming back. We have a big game against Cleveland Glenville our very first game."
