Fitzgerald Toussaint (5-10, 185, 4.4) took a trip to Ann Arbor a week ago with his coach Jeff Whitaker and teammates S/LB Isaiah Bell and LB Julius Ferrell -- to watch Michigan go through spring practice and see how things work under Rich Rodriguez.
Bell and Toussaint received Michigan offers from Coach Rod that day, and Bell committed.
How did things go for Toussaint?
"He is very, very interested in Michigan," Coach Whittaker told GoBlueWolverine. "But he is taking a little more time than what Isaiah Bell took with his recruiting. He wants to be one hundred percent sure before he commits anywhere. That is one thing we teach at our school and tell the players and parents: once you're committed you are committed to that school."
However, Coach Whitaker added, "I can tell you 'Fitz' likes Michigan a whole bunch."
Speaking about what kind of player Toussaint is coach Whittaker stated, "Fitzgerald is an extremely fast running back. He runs a 10.54 100 meters, electronic timed. Football-wise he has great hips, great feet, great vision, and he will be a very exciting running back for anybody to have at the next level."
Toussaint plays running back for the Liberty Leopards, but he could also play slot receiver as well at the college level in the right offense.
"His versatility will enable him to play multiple positions at the next level," Coach Whitaker said. "He is a dual threat guy that can really stretch the defense -- with him running the ball along with catching the ball. He can be a person that could play the running back and the slot receiver. He would be a perfect fit in the Coach Rod offense where you get a player in space who can run and can catch the ball very well. I think he will be a great player at the college level at either slot or running back."
"Whoever gets Fitzgerald is getting a good one."
