Michigan Visits Steel Valley

Steel Valley High School that is, in Munhall, Pennsylvania. The target: defensive end Tyrone Ezell. U-M Coach Gibson was in on Thursday, and GBW spoke to Steel Valley Head Coach Ray Brazoes about the visit ... has Michigan moved into Ezell's Top group?

GoBlueWolverine spoke to Steel Valley Head Coach Ray Brazoes about defensive end Tyrone Ezell.

GoBlueWolverine: What kind of player is Tyrone for you at Steel Valley?

Coach Braszo: "He has a lot of strength, agility, he is quick off the ball, a very powerful kid, he perceives the ball well, and he has a good motor all the time. He is a kid you would like to have on your team along with being a good leader."

GoBlueWolverine: What position are the coaches looking at Tyrone to play in college inside or outside on the defensive line?

Coach Braszo: "Most coaches are looking for him to play defensive end at this time. He is a kid that will put weight on, but right now most want him at defensive end. Not trying to say he will not put a lot of weight on and play inside because he could and be effective there as well, but it seems most want him at defensive end at the next level. He could be effective at either position on the defensive line."

GoBlueWolverine: Does he have a top 5-10 list at this time?

Coach Braszo: "Well he still has many scholarship offers coming in at this stage so he is taking an attitude of waiting to see who likes him before he starts really narrowing thing down to a certain top five or ten list or anything like that at this time. It is very early for his recruitment."

GoBlueWolverine: How much Interest does he have in Michigan and did a coach come to visit Tyrone from Michigan?

Coach Braszo: "Michigan was just here (4/23/08) so they were able to get him some information regarding the school and the football program. I told Coach Gibson (area recruiter) that Tyrone is seeing who is interested in Tyrone and he is just gathering information right now of all the schools that are interested in him. Therefore, does he like Michigan oh yea, but not anymore than the other schools that have offered him right now because he is at the early stage in his recruitment."

GoBlueWolverine: Will Tyrone be going to any summer camps or senior days at the colleges that offered?

Coach Braszo: "Right now that is on the backburner at this stage because he wants to see who is interested and Tyrone might have problems being able to go to some of these camps far away or schools that might be out of state now (transportation issue). Tyrone will probably gather a list and narrow it down and then when he is able to take official recruiting visits is when he will probably start taking trips. I think he will take his time with his recruiting and really look what is best for him."

GoBlueWolverine: What are some of the factors that will help make his decision?

Coach Braszo: "Tyrone is going to go where he feels comfortable with the coaches and players. He really wants to have his parents be able to attend his games like most kids so I do not see him going to far from home to attend college. I am sure once he has the opportunity to travel for his official visits like most kids who have not been to many places he will see stuff he has not seen to date and get him excited for those colleges. I am sure he will want to travel to see places and might even be places that might not be the best place for him, but to see what they can offer. I am not sure though that will sway him to far from home."

GoBlueWolverine: Does Tyrone do any other sports in high school?

Coach Braszo: "Tyrone is in wrestling at the AA division and wrestles at heavyweight. He is a pretty good athlete in no matter what he does or would put his mind to it."

GoBlueWolverine: How is your program going to be this coming football year?

Coach Braszo: "We are going to be very young team this coming year because we lost a lot of very good players and got to find some ball players. On offense we have a good running back and Tyrone back so we will be building around those guys."

GoBlueWolverine: What positions does Tyrone play for Steel Valley?

Coach Braszo: "Tyrone plays offensive guard along with defensive end and defensive tackle for us depending on what defense we are running and what the offense might be running. We like to move him around a little bit so the offenses do not know where he is going to play all the time."
