Michigan Making Push for Emilien

Big Ten powers are clashing over Plantation, FL S Vladimir Emilien. The Michigan Wolverines are turning up the pressure, but are they on the Sunshine State star as hard as the Ohio State Buckeyes?

Vlad Emilien, the talented safety from Plantation Florida, has over 20 offers and the number seems to be growing by the day. The list is long and impressive with high major schools up and down the roll.  But there are two schools sticking out from the pack, and they aren’t strangers to doing battle with one another.

Michigan and Ohio State normally square off on the gridiron, but this time they are tussling on the recruiting trail for Emilien’s services.   They are clearly the schools that have caught his attention the most.

“Michigan and Ohio State are recruiting me the hardest right now,” reported Emilien.  “I talk to both schools a lot I have been in contact with Coach Hopson from Michigan and Coach Haynes and Coach Sickell from Ohio State. They send me handwritten notes those two are just really coming at me hard”.

Despite hailing from Florida, Emilien understands the intensity of the best rivalry in sports.

“I went on a visit to Ohio State and I noticed in the locker room they had a countdown to Michigan clock for the next time they play,” he recalled.  “That let me know just how serious they rivalry is.  The way they show that game on television you can tell how serious the game is. I think it’s the best rivalry in college football.”

While both college football powers have clearly made Emilien a priority, only one of them is sitting atop his leaderboard.

“Ohio State is my leader and that's from my mouth, Emilien told BuckeyeSports.com.  “I don't have a top-five, but they are at the top right now. I just want to see other schools and be totally sure of my decision.”

One of those other schools will likely be Michigan.  The hard hitting safety hopes to conclude his visits before the start of his senior season so he can make his decision.  When he finally sits down to make that choice, many factors will go into it.

“My first priority is education,” Emilien said.  “That is very important to me (he is sporting a 3.5 GPA). I also need to like the environment of the city and college I am in.  I like to straight out hit you, so I want to play in a defense that is aggressive. I want to play with someone where I have there back and they have my back.”

After all of that, there is still one final consideration.

“My mom,” he said.  “My mom has been very supportive in helping me make the right choice.”

GoBlueWolverine will have more on Emilien in the coming months.
