In last week’s Pahokee spring game Brandon Hawthorne literally did it all! The 6-foot, 185 pound weak side linebacker had 13 tackles and 3 sacks. In true Pahokee fashion Hawthorne lined up at WLB, MLB, defensive end and even defensive tackle.
In the past couple weeks the attention from college coaches has really cranked up.
Besides the most recent, Hawthorne also has Michigan, Kansas State, Colorado State, South Florida and Northern Illinois. He says the Bulls were the first team to take a chance at him and offer a scholarship.
“South Florida offered me back in February, they were my first offer.” Adding, “I’ve been talking with Coach Scott for a good little while now, like 5 months.”
Hawthorne says he’s been researching the South Florida program.
“It’s very nice. The facilities, the campus, the weight room and the community are all real nice.” With 12 offers in his hands, Brandon says he’s ready to name a top 5.
Why is Michigan the leader?
“I like everything about them, they have the biggest campus I’ve ever seen. I’m going to go stay with Martavious Odoms when he gets up there and check out the place.”
Location is not an issue for Hawthorne he says it’s all about getting an education.
“I want an education first, then I’ll worry about football.”
This summer Brandon Hawthorne plans on attending USF’s camp on June 21st, followed by camps at Clemson and Georgia. He will make his final decision during the national televised game this upcoming season when Pahokee travels to play a team in South Carolina.
