Denard Robinson Just Wants A Football Family

The Deerfield Beach, Fla. 'athlete' talks about his offers, his love for football, and how he wants a family atmosphere. Can the Maize and Blue provide that homey vibe?

In 2007, images of Dennis Dixon running across the field were left scarred in many Wolverine fans' minds. With the new offense that Rich Rodriguez brings in, a quarterback like the former Oregon signalcaller would be a dream for the offense. Denard Robinson believes he's that type of quarterback.

"I'm like Dennis Dixon," he told GoBlueWolverine. I'm a dual threat quarterback and that's what I got to say. I've got speed."

Speed is clearly stressed in the new offensive system that Rich Rodriguez will implement, but it is also a staple of the new defense that coordinator Scott Schafer brings to Ann Arbor. The Wolverines have made it clear that they covet Robinson as an ‘athlete' and value his potential on the defensive side of the ball as well.

"I talk to both the offensive and defensive coaches, and they said (his position will be determined by) wherever I fit best … but right now I want to play quarterback. I like how Michigan uses the quarterback in their offense. It's something I would want to be a part of. It's my dream."

"Michigan, West Virginia, Florida, Central Florida, Rutgers … they're all coming pretty hard right now," Robinson added.

With quarterbacks Kevin Newsome and Shavodrick Beaver already in the fold, and a fight between the offensive and defensive coaches over where Robinson would fall should he sign with the Wolverines, do they stand a legitimate chance?

"Yeah man, I love every team out there," he said. "I just love football - period. I don't really have a team, I just love watching football. But I'm looking for education, environment, family … all around team, like a family. Just be together. Use me right, use me to their advantage."

Denard is contemplating a visit to Michigan sometime in the near future.

"I'm going to try to make it up there for an unofficial visit over the summer."

However, he insists there are no favorite schools, and everything is wide open.

"I'm not in any rush to make a decision. (A decision will come) probably during the season sometime."

Deerfield Beach is in the same SE Florida vicinity as Delray Beach (Justin Feagin) and not tooo far from Pahokee (Martavious Odoms) … we'll see if he can get ‘homey' at Michigan with Feagin and Odoms.
