The Countdown Begins for Gress

After two more campus visits last weekend, three schools are still standing in the battle for West Miffin, PA OT Adam Gress. With a decision now on the horizon, what will be the most significant factors in his choice?

West Miffin, PA OT Adam Gress has been a traveling man in recent weeks.  The 6-7, 290-pounder has made it a point to hit the road and get an up close look at the schools he's most interested in.  As a result a few programs have moved up his list, while another has moved off it.

"I went to (the University of Virginia) and it wasn't really my thing," Gress admitted.  "I think I went down there expecting something that it wasn't.  It was a nice campus and all… it was a good place, but it just wasn't the football program I was looking for, the facilities weren't exactly what I was looking for.  The other thing was the heat I thought was awful."

"I also camped at Penn State and West Virginia last weekend," he continued.  "Penn State offered me after camp.  West Virginia offered me a couple of weeks ago, so I went to check that out.  I liked West Virginia."

Based on those experiences, the Mountaineers and Nittany Lions have joined the Michigan Wolverines atop Gress' leaderboard.

"That's in no particular order," he added.  "Those are the ones still out there.  I'm just trying to figure it out."

Now that he is equipped with all of the facts about his remaining suitors, Gress feels that there's little else to chat with coaches about.  At this point he is focused on getting through the deliberation process with help from those closest to him.

"Really it's mostly going to (come down to) me and my family just talking it out," he said.  "If I have any questions I'll call the coaches, but really it seems like I know everything I really needed to know. I actually talked to Tom Bradley from Penn State today.  We just discussed what's going on and the basics."

"It really seems like things are slowing down," Gress continued.  "It seems like I'll have a decision made pretty soon.  It really seems like by the end of July I'll have a decision made.  Really it'll be based on pretty much everything.  I'm looking for the whole package.  I want the big time football, I want a good campus, I want a good location, I want nice people, I want good coaches… I want the whole deal."

GoBlueWolverine will have more on Gress in the coming weeks.
