New Prospect: Super RB Tyrone Moss to Visit U-M!

U-M has a 'double recruiting whammy' at one position: running back ... great in recruiting-need, meager in recruit-numbers. So it's significant that The Insiders' #39 prospect, RB Tyrone Moss from Pompano Beach, Fla., Ely tells us his 5th visit is to U-M!

All-American running back Tyrone Moss (5-10, 210 lbs., 4.5 in the 40) from Pompano Beach, Fla., Ely gave us some good news for Michigan recruiting fans on the telephone tonight (Monday).

"Are you from Michigan or Michigan State? The University of Michigan? Yes, definitely, Michigan will be my 5th visit! I've been talking to Coach Campbell all along, and lately we've talked about when I will visit. We are 10-1 and in the playoffs, so when I visit depends on that. Our finals are not until December 13. So the exact date won't be set, hopefully, until after that."

You've already taken three official visits?

"I've already visited North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Michigan State -- that one was a waste because they've fired their coach. Miami will be my 4th visit."

What attracts you to Michigan?

"I like Michigan because they produce a lot of great backs. Coach Campbell has told me about all the great backs they've had there. He says they need running backs for the future too."

Ely is 10-1. How has your own season gone so far?

"I've missed three games this season with an ankle injury. Yeah, that's why I took some visits. But I've got 1300 yards (160+ yards per game) and 24 touchdowns in eight games so far this year."

The Insiders' #4 running back says, "I don't have a favorite right now."

BorderWars.com's Scott Kenned recently described Moss this way: "The running back he can be most compared to is another Florida back in Emmitt Smith. He's not going to juke you out of your socks like Barry Sanders; he's not going to run away from you like Napolean Kaufman. What Moss will do is follow his blocks, break tackles, and run hard and fall forward on every play."

Note: It will be interesting if this happens to come down to a Michigan-Miami recruiting battle (Miami has been considered to have the best shot at him), because it is possible the the Wolverines and 'Canes will fight it out for Michigan's other top RB recruit as well, Lynell Hamilton from Stockton Calif.
