McManus Wants the Pressure

North Penn kicker Brandon McManus came to Michigan along with many other top kicking prospects, but he left at the top of the heap. McManus talked about his chances of a UM offer and other schools of interest.

Last year, Brandon McManus had 28 touchbacks his junior season and also boomed home a 55-yarder and that was before his transformation. This summer, McManus has grown four inches and improved his technique, the result has been 10 more yards on his kickoffs and a host of schools interested in the North Penn product.

"Pittsburgh is recruiting me," he reported, "Temple said they were going to offer me in the next couple weeks."

McManus camped at Pitt along with Penn State, Northwestern and Michigan, where he impressed the Wolverines and was named one of the two best kickers at the camp.

"They said they really liked me," McManus explained, "We didn't talk much about [an offer], but I know there's three guys they're looking at right now."

During the camp, McManus was able to get out and do a little more than just kick. With it being his first time in Ann Arbor, he took the time to see the town and the campus.

"I liked it, it was a little more cluttered than I would like but I can get through that," he admitted, "there is a lot to do outside of football there and they have a great medical program which is what I want to do."

Another thing he wants to do is play for a big time program and with the options in front of him, it looks like that goal could easily be fulfilled for McManus. Any coach will tell you a kicker needs to be mentally strong and Brandon seems to have that part down.

"I like the tradition at Michigan, it is a Big Ten school, a big place and there's pressure there and I like that."
