Michigan Hanging in With Gabe Lynn

Gabe Lynn, the five-star cornerback from Jenks, Oklahoma spoke with GBW yesterday. In his interview he talks about his upcoming season and what he is doing to be prepared for it, as well as a camp he attended recently and how recruiting is going ... and if he is still interested in Michigan.

The summer is finally slowing down for high school football players. Many have attended combines and camps and visited a few colleges. For Jenks Ok. CB Gabe Lynn (6-1, 180, 4.5), Scout.com's #28 prospect, it is a time to help his team go for it's third straight state title.

"I am focusing on the season right now so that we can go for another state title," Lynn told GBW. "Our team just came back from our senior retreat. As seniors we go and talk about the upcoming season and to build unity with our teammates. We are establishing leadership so that we are all one."

As Gabe looks to help his team stay on top he had other things on his plate ... he recently attended the Florida Top Gun camp.

"I had a good time at the Top Gun camp. There was a lot of talent down there. I had a chance to go up against Shaquelle Evans and Bryce McNeal -- they were pretty cool."

Having the chance to go up against top talent gave him to opportunity to display the style that he likes to play.

"I like playing bump and run and playing physical, just coming up and bring the wood that's my style."

Colleges have certainly noticed his style as will, with over 30 offers. The young man is noticing the attention.

"Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, USC, UNC, Texas and LSU are really coming after me hard with personal letters, e-mails and calling my coach. I expect to have a top five by the end of the summer."

One school that he is interested in but is not on that list is Michigan. It turns out that, once again, it is a problem for U-M not to be calling kids in the summer. "I have not talked to them in a while," Lynn said. "But I have received e-mails from them. Earlier in the summer I talked with Coach Hopson on the phone and he told me he wanted a bigger, physical corner."

Coach Hopson went down in the spring to take a look at Gabe and obviously liked what he had a chance to see. "Coach Hopson also was selling me on the program up at Michigan. They are a great winning program."

"I am interested in Michigan -- they are still in there as far as a school that I am considering."

Gabe will be looking at three main points when choosing a school, "The coaching staff is important ... mainly my position coach -- I want us to get along. I would like to play with guys that get after it and who are trying to get better. When I pick a school it will be a vibe that I feel about that school ... it is something that I will know is the place for me."
