Hoopsters knocked out early in Season Opener

The Michigan men's basketball team lost 89-68 to St. Bonaventure in the opening round of the Paradise Jam Tournament in the US Virgin Islands.

Michigan trailed by twenty at half, 54-34.

The Wolverines were only out-rebounded by one in the game, 34-33, but Michigan's 39% field goal percentage did them in.

Senior forward LaVell Blanchard led Michigan in scoring with 21 points (6 of 11, and 7-8 in free throws), and 11 each were added by junior forward Bernard Robinson (3-7 and 4-4)) and freshman 2-guard Lester Abram (3-6 and 5-7). Blanchard also led the Wolverines with 8 rebounds, followed by Robinson and frosh center Chris Hunter with 4 each.

The game was the season opener for Michigan (0-1).
