Michigan Firmly in Ankrah's Race

In mid-June, Jason Ankrah was still relatively unknown by most recruiting services and most colleges. All of that has changed as several schools had dropped in on the Gaithersburg, Maryland, Quince Orchard product. Now Scout.com's four star, No. 25 rated defensive end has six schools that stand out to him, including the Maize and Blue.

"I actually just talked to Coach Dews yesterday," Ankrah told GoBlueWolverine. "We had a good talk about taking an official visit to Michigan, and about how Michigan would be a great opportunity for me."

Michigan has placed themselves in a group that seems to be going down to the wire for the 6'4" 250 pound prospect. They are one of six schools receiving his attention, and will be one of the schools that receives an official visit.

"Michigan, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Tennessee, Maryland, and West Virginia are really the schools I'm looking at. I probably want to take all my official visits, but I want to see Michigan, Tennessee, Penn State, and Virginia Tech."

With that list already made up for Jason, has the official visit he and Coach Dews talked about been set up?

"No, we haven't set it up yet. But I'm probably coming up for the Illinois game."

When he makes the trek to Ann Arbor for the Oct. 4th homecoming battle against the Fighting Illini, Ankrah will be bringing a teammate and friend.

"Yeah, Travis (Hawkins) is going to be coming with me. He was telling me the other day Michigan is back on his list, and that he wants to see more about them and learn more about them."

Time will tell if Michigan can pull a package from Quince Orchard.
