U-M Drops In On 2010 Forward

GoBlueWolverine caught up with a talented 2010 small forward from Sioux Falls, SD who has been on the receiving end of a great deal of attention from the Maize & Blue lately. Where does Michigan stand with him? Has he been offered? When will he see the coaches next? Read on.

South Dakota doesn't have a reputation for producing college basketball talent, but that hasn't stop coaches from uncovering one of the state's hidden gems. Cody Larson, a 6-8 225 pound small forward from Sioux Falls, SD, amassed double digit offers, including tenders from Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, and Gonzaga.

"I'm up to 12 offers," Larson told GoBlueWolverine.  "Of the schools that have offered me, my top two are Iowa and Gonzaga."

Though absent from Larson's list of favorites, the Michigan Wolverines have made a strong push in recent weeks and are becoming more and more of a factor.

"They haven't offered me yet, but Coach Mahoney and Coach Beilein are the ones recruiting me," Larson reported.  "They're coming up Thursday to watch me in an open gym, so that'll be good."

Mahoney did indeed make it in to see the versatile youngster yesterday, and the Mount Rushmore State star indicated that the increased attention is making an impression.  Could the Wolverine's vault into contention at the top of his list and possibly receive a visit if they keep it up?

"Yeah, I think so," replied Larson.  "I don't know much about Michigan, but I have visited them to see what they're all about.  But that was three years ago so I don't remember much."

While it's clear that the Wolverines have some catching up to do in this recruitment, Larson insists there is plenty of time for them to do so.

"I'm not rushing a decision unless I really like someone," he said.  "I'll go ahead and commit when it just feels right to me."

GoBlueWolverine will have more on Larson in the coming weeks.
