Branden Smith's final high school season is rolling along in good fashion. He's been doing it all for his Washington Bulldog team, and as a result the team is starting to get on a roll.
"My season is going real good. We're 2-2 but we're playing this weekend and we're getting on a roll. My stats are looking good. No one is throwing to my side of the field on defense. But on offense, I'm getting my carries. They're (opponents) too scared to kick to me when I'm back for kick returns or punt returns."
Another thing that has been on a roll since Smith exploded onto the scene, is his recruitment. Fielding offers from big name programs all over the map, such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Michigan, and LSU, the Atlanta area star insists he's still wide open.
"I'm still wide open everywhere. I don't know where I want to take my officials."
However, that hasn't stopped recruiters from contacting him quite a bit since the quiet period was lifted, including Michigan and defensive backs coach Tony Gibson.
"I talked to Michigan two weeks ago, and Coach Gibson was telling me they really want me to come up and visit the campus. I'm really trying to visit there unofficially, but the only problem is transportation."
"And like I said I don't know where I want to take my five officials."
If and when a visit does happen for Branden, Coach Gibson will most likely be there for him like he has been in his recruitment.
"I have a good relationship with all the coaches recruiting me, but I have one as well with Coach Gibson. We don't only talk football. We talk about lifestyles and different things like that."
If a visit does indeed happen, you can bet that personal relationship played a part in it.
