Michigan has never stopped pursuing Vlad Emilien -- they continued to go after him hard even after he was injured. The effort the Wolverines have put in with him is appreciated. "Michigan has stayed on me," he told GoBlueWolverine; "calling me and keeping in contact with me ... and I appreciate that."
The point man in recruiting Vladimir for the Wolverines is Michigan's defensive backs coach Tony Gibson.
"Coach Gibson is a cool guy," Emilein said. "He has talked with me about coming in and competing for a starting spot. I am considering graduating from high school early so that I can have a better chance to compete."
Last Saturday Vladimir decide to watch the Michigan game, and he liked what he saw.
"Oh man, I couldn't believe that they came back like that! When Brandon Minor ran for that touchdown and then Johnny Thompson had that pick and went in for the touchdown -- that was crazy."
Vladimir got caught up in the game. "Man I was jumping up and down, and right after the game I called Coach Gibson. Coach Gibson said, 'That shows you the character of our team, to come back and win a game."
Considering Vladimir was so excited, GBW asked him if Michigan his leader and he quickly shut that question down. "No. all the teams right now are on even ground as of right now," he said.
He did break down his list of schools to us and what he likes about each of them.
Michigan- "Every week they show an effort to call me and talk to me. Me and Coach Gibson are forming a really good relationship."
Ohio State- "I have good relationships with Coaches Pickell and Haynes, they are trying to be mentors to me outside of football."
South Florida- "Basically they are finding ways to win, and other teams will realize they are nobody's door mat."
Wake Forest- "The surprise of the ACC; now that they are winning against good teams they are getting the respect they deserve."
Wisconsin- "Coach Partridge and I are from the same high school, so he understands me and where I come from."
Emilein will be making a trip up to Ann Arbor for an official visit on October 24 for the MSU game, and he has a few things he will be looking for during his visit.
"Well, I will be looking at the atmosphere, and how I bond with the coaches and players. I also want to see how their safeties and the defense play. The academics at Michigan are off the charts so that is a check for them already, but I am going to go and see how it is."
Almost one month after his visit -- on November 23 -- he will make his college decision.
"I am very excited about that day because that is my birthday."
One of the schools on his list will also be excited that day.
Where does U-M stand with Vladimir Emilien?
