When word broke earlier this week that Bastrop LA, defensive lineman DeQuinta Jones had "wandering eyes" regarding his recruitment, speculation about a decommitment from Michigan immediately begin to swirl. According to Jones, however, such talk is off base.
"No that's not true," Jones said regarding when asked if he had backed out of his pledge. "I think I'll take a couple of visits, but that's about it. I think maybe I'll visit Alabama or Arkansas. There's nothing much to it (as far as a reason why). I just wanted to go look around."
Both schools have offered Jones scholarships, but when asked what either of them could do to get him to reconsider his commitment to Michigan, he issued a prompt response.
"Nothing," he said. "I'm just going to look around."
This will surely be a topic of increased discussion between Jones and Michigan in the days to come. He has already had a few conversations with his primary recruiter.
"I talked to Coach Hop the other night, but I haven't talked to Coach Rodriguez yet," Jones reported. "Coach Hopson was talking about maybe setting an official visit up for after the season. He wants to get me up there for a weekend."
GoBlueWolverine will have more on Jones in the coming days.
