Keller vs. Wright Redux

Ryan Mundy, Garrett Rivas and Leon Hall (Greg Olsen as well by the way) are not the only top Michigan recruits still playing this weekend. This (Saturday) afternoon at the Oakland Coliseum: the NCS 3A East Bay title game is a rematch of the 46-44 Monte Vista victory three weeks ago between Sam Keller's SRV and Kyle Wright's Monte Vista. And our Don Hoekwater will be there!

No. 7 San Ramon Valley of Danville (10-2) vs. No. 4 Monte Vista of Danville (12-0) at Oakland Coliseum, Saturday, 4 p.m. -- This NCS 3A East Bay title game is a rematch of one of the state's top games this year, a 46-44 Monte Vista victory three weeks ago that decided the East Bay Athletic League title. In that game, Michigan-bound Sam Keller threw his fourth TD with 42 seconds left and seemingly give his team the victory 44-40. But University of Miami-bound Kyle Wright, who threw for 370 yards and six touchdowns, marched his team 71 yards in just 34 seconds, capped by a 4-yard touchdown pass to Sam DeSa with six ticks left. Monte Vista, the state's top-ranked Division II team according to Cal-Hi Sports, moved into the finals with a 41-8 win over Bishop O'Dowd of Oakland. The Mustangs got a career-high 215 yards rushing and four touchdowns from Tom Haug. The Wolves had little trouble with Arroyo of San Lorenzo 42-6 as Keller passed for 285 yards and six touchdowns, four going to Angelo Richardson.
