Yours truly has been chatting (Sunday noon) with offensive lineman Pat Sharrow (2002 Michigan camper, 6-3, 275 lbs., 4.9 in the 40, 390-lb. bench press, 3.5 GPA) from Monroe, Michigan, and with Pat's father, about his Michigan visit this weekend! Big News for Pat!
Mr. Sharrow: "Pat committed to Michigan this morning. We got our questions answered. Coach Carr talked to him this morning and he committed!"
Pat: "I went ahead and committed to Coach Carr while we were talking this morning. He said they will train me at offensive guard and center."
Mr. Sharrow: "They talked to him this weekend about being a long-snapper too. Purdue wanted him there as well."
Mr. Sharrow: "It is true that his Michigan offer was for January 2004, not 2003. And Purdue really pushed that point when Pat was there a couple weeks ago; so we called (Michigan) Coach Herrmann and I give him credit -- he just told us, 'We aren't going to lie and tell you there is a scholarship available for you when there just isn't right now.'
"But now they told us that due to the 'medical' situation - maybe it was Zia Combs, I don't know -- that there is a scholarship for him for this class, and they offered it to him. So Pat and I talked about it, and I told him, 'A lot of people grow up with dreams ... how many people really get to fulfill them. It's your dream to go to Michigan -- and now you have the chance.' So he took it! Heck, his whole room is Maize and Blue!"
Pat: "My visit host was Tom Berishaj. I've known Tom, and he and I were were at several Michigan games together last year -- we've gotten to know each other pretty well."
Sharrow Gets His 2003 Offer, and Commits!
