"Ryan wishes he could've taken visits."

So said Marshall, Mich. star defensive lineman Doug Van Dyke, just back from his Michigan visit. And this is the crux of his recruiting. Doug talked to yours truly about ths visit, and what is next for him.

"The visit was awesome, everything I expected. My mom went with me. Pat Massey was my host, and we talked about playing the DL at Michigan."

"I talked to Coach Carr this morning. He just told me again that they really wanted me."

I asked him if his brother Ryan has talked to him, and given him any advice. Ryan is a former MSU quarterback; Ryan committed early, in the summer, to Nick Saban at MSU -- and then Saban fled to LSU.

"Ryan just tells me he wishes he could've taken some official visits."

So Doug is following that advice: "I'm going to Wisconsin this weekend, and Ohio State January 10th." I asked him if he was going to schedule Nebraska as well: "Probably."

And as far as comparing Michigan with his first official visit, to Purdue, Doug would only say, "Michgan and Purdue are tied for me. Both teams' coaches are great, and their players are cool."

And The Insiders' #84 prospect, after going through the spring, summer and fall saying Michigan is his leader, is playing it cool as well.
