Visits Could Tell Tale for Jones

GoBlueWolverine recently caught up with Bastrop, LA DE DeQuinta Jones to get the latest on his recruitment. Has he scheduled his visits yet? Has one school emerged as the strongest threat to the Maize & Blue?

As one of two current Michigan commitments contemplating visits to other schools, Bastrop, LA standout DeQuinta Jones has been on the receiving end of a lot of recruiting attention in recent weeks.  Chief among those keeping frequent contact has been his primary Maize & Blue recruiter, Jay Hopson.

"I talked to him (Wednesday)," Jones said.  "I'm still with (Michigan).  I know this is a rebuilding year for them.  Everybody keeps asking me do I think I still want to go there.  I'm always like, ‘yeah.'  I think it's just a rebuilding year for them right now.  Next year, we should be pretty good."

As positive as that sounds for the Wolverines, Jones acknowledges his desire to visit other schools.  He also recently admitted that there's a possibility those visits could sway him.

"You never know what is going to happen," Jones told in another interview posted today.

Michigan's main competition for Jones' services appears to be Alabama, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma.  That said, just how viable each of those possibilities is probably won't be known until he begins focusing on scheduling his official visits.

"I'm going to wait until the season is over," said Jones of his plan to set up trips.  "We've got one more regular season game, and then we've got the playoffs.  It should be over in December.  I haven't figured out which ones I'm going to visit yet."

While Jones hasn't said so himself, the strongest threat to Michigan's attempt to hold on to his pledge just may be Oklahoma State.  While they've clearly made a strong push, has it been as strong as Michigan's?

"Not really, but they are up there though," Jones admitted.  "They are playing real good this year.  I went down there this summer to the campus.  I liked the school, the facilities, and all of that."

GoBlueWolverine will have more on Jones in the coming weeks.
