By the Nos: UM "O" vs NW "D" & Prediction

Assuming Nick Sheridan at quarterback for the Wolverines again, and of course with Brandon Minor out, what does this matchup look like? And is there any way to make a game prediction?

For Michigan, we'll just use last week's results since Nick Sheridan was at the helm and, we assume, will be again this Saturday for the most part.

MICHIGAN OFFENSE (last week) vs NORTHWESTERN DEFENSE - OVERALL:

Northwestern is 6th in the league in scoring defense, giving up 20.8 points per game.
Michigan in scoring Offense vs Minnesota: 29 points.

Northwestern is 7th in the league in total defense, giving up 351.7 yards per game.
Michigan in Total Offense vs Minnesota: 435 yards.

-----------------------------------------------------------

MICHIGAN PASSING OFFENSE (last week) vs NORTHWESTERN PASSING DEFENSE:

Northwestern Passing defense: 9th in the B-10, giving up 228.9 yards per game. In pass efficiency defense, the Wildcats are 7th in the league.

U-M Passing Offense vs Minnesota: 237 yards.

Nick Sheridan vs. Minnesota: 18-30 for 1 TD and no ints.

Martavious Odoms is 4th in the league in receptions, averaging 4.78 catches per game. Odoms has dropped off the rankings in receiving yards per game.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Northwestern Rushing defense: 5th in the Big 10, 122.8 yards per game (3.6 yards per carry).

U-M Rushing: U-M rushed for 232 yards vs. Minnesota. But with Brandon Minor out, who knows what'll happen tomorrow?

Michigan does not have a back in the top ten in rushing in the Big Ten.

Northwestern LB Prince Kwateng is 9th in the league in tackles, averaging 7.7 per game.

-----------------------------------------------------------

MISC.

Northwestern is 4th in the league in 3rd down defense, allowing a 35.2% conversion rate.
U-M in 3rd down conversions vs. Minnesota: 8-18 (44.4%)

Northwestern is 3rd in the league in Red Zone defense, allowing a 77.1% scoring rate.
U-M is was 5-6 vs. Minnesota in the Red Zone: 83.3%

Northwestern is 2nd in the league in sacks, averaging 2.7 per game.
U-M is gave up no sacks vs. Minnesota.

-----------------------------------------------------------

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?

No idea really ... we don't know who the NW QB will be, and with bad weather expected, that just adds to the uncertainty.

GAME PREDICTION: Northwestern 20, Michigan 20 (in other words, no idea).
