When Rayville, La. WR Kenny Bell proclaimed himself a LSU Tiger back in August, Michigan's chances at luring him to Ann Arbor appeared totally vanquished. Recently, though, the Maize & Blue received a reprieve. The Bayou standout announced that he is open to taking a visit to the Great Lake State.
"I just said I was going to take a trip to Michigan because I had dreamed about going there," Bell explained to GoBlueWolverine. "I just want to take my visit and see what it is like up there. I'm still talking about plans to make it up there for my visit."
It is very clear that the Wolverines have significant work to do if they are to loosen the Tigers' grip. Michigan assistant Jay Hopson is working double time to do just that.
"I talked to Coach Hopson last Thursday," Bell said. "He has just been talking about how he wants me to up there. Even though I'm committed and probably not going to change my mind, he still wants me up there.
The Alabama Crimson Tide have also maintained a strong presence in Bell's recruitment and they too will likely host him on a visit. That begs the question: does either school have a legitimate shot at convincing the four-star wideout to change his mind?
"I don't know," he said. "I haven't really thought about. There might be (a chance) and there might not be."
For the time being Bell is much more concerned with closing out his high school season strong and helping his team advance in the postseason.
"(The season) has been going good," he said. "We play in Baton Rouge this Friday in the second round of the playoffs. I don't know if I'm going to be in one of the All Star Games, but I'm hoping to get a chance."
