The mother of All-American defensive end/linebacker Shawn Crable (2002 Michigan camper, 6-6, 225 lbs., 4.74 in the 40, 10.8 100 meters, 2.8 GPA/15 ACT) from Massillon, Ohio, Washington told us:
"Shawn's supposed to visit Michigan this weekend, yes. Then Sunday he goes right to Columbus for the Touchdown banquet (for Ohio's top All-Staters). He'll return from there Monday morning and go right to school."
Regarding reports that he is not playing basketball because he is still rehabbing his foot (which he broke in the early spring):
"Shawn hasn't played basketball so far; it's just because he's been taking visits and hasn't had a chance to practice yet. His foot is well, he's not having any problem with that. He's been released by the doctors to play basketball if he wants to."
Crable's official visits are: USC Dec. 6 (he had a great visit), Michigan December 13th, and Miami December 20. Then in January it will be Pitt (where friend and former teammate Andy Allman plays; he made an unofficial visit there Nov. 29) and Ohio State.
A few other tidbits:
The official visit of All-American linebacker/defensive end Claude Turk McBride (Dec. 13 visit, 6-4, 235 lbs., 4.6 in the 40, 3.2 GPA/780 SAT) from Camden, New Jersey, Woodrow Wilson is back on for this weekend again.
The Insiders' Jamie Newburg reports that All-American wide receiver Jayson Swain (Nov. 2 official visit, Alabama Nike stats: 6-2, 205 lbs., 4.45 in the 40, 34-inch vertical jump, 2.8 GPA/15 ACT) from Huntsville, Ala., Grissom is announcing his decision Monday -- between Michigan and Tennessee. Swain made his official visit to Tennessee this past weekend; Michigan Head Coach Lloyd Carr made his in-home visit to the Swains last week. See "Hot News" for Newburg's report.
Student Sports' Greg Biggens reports that All-American running back Lynell Hamilton (Dec. 6 official visit, Stanford Nike stats: 6-0, 195 lbs., 4.25 shuttle, 28-inch vertical jump ... 4.4 in the 40, 3.0 GPA) from Stockton, Calif., Edison. has Michigan and Oregon as his co-leaders. But he still plans to take two more visits -- to Oklahoma, Arizona, San Diego State or Alabama A&M. See "Hot News" for Biggens' report.
