Booker Guyton, the head coach of All-American running back Lynell Hamilton (Dec. 6 official visit, Stanford Nike stats: 6-0, 195 lbs., 4.25 shuttle, 28-inch vertical jump ... 4.4 in the 40, 3.0 GPA) from Stockton, Calif., Edison told yours truly early this afternoon:
"Coach Hoke Michigan made an in-home visit last (Wednesday) night. And now Lynell's family and I are going to sit down this weekend and try to come to a decision."
"Recruiting is taking away from Lynell's academics now. In California the seniors have to do a senior project, and Lynell is starting to fall behind on his."
"Lynell has already done his 'turn-downs' to most of the other schools - Colorado, Arizona, Oklahoma, USC too. But not Michigan or Oregon -- it is between those two."
"As far as Michigan goes, as Lynell told you, they really turned it up a notch as far as his visit went. Lynell really liked the Michigan players and what a close-knit family it is there. He was impressed with his talk with Chris Perry -- how genuine Perry was, and how even though Perry will be back next year he wanted Lynell to come in and play too. He also really liked Coach Carr and his wife -- they had dinner together."
"But Oregon is in it as well. Those two are the two. So this weekend Lynell, his mom and dad, and I will sit down and lay out all the pros and cons of both schools. And we will try to have a decision by Saturday night."
"Say 'Hi' to Don Hoekwater (GoBlueWolverine's West Coast Correspondent) for me -- he's big enough to play the OL right now!"
