Mike Jones made his way to Ann Arbor over the summer to check out several of the Midwest schools on his list. After his unofficial visit to Michigan, he got a feeling he couldn't shake, and he committed to the Wolverine's shortly thereafter. Now comes the time where he'll make it back to the North on an official visit shortly before he enrolls come January.
"I finished up my college class that I was taking and I got a B in that, so I'm good to go. I just have to send my stuff to the clearinghouse and I'm done," Jones told GoBlueWolverine.
With all of his academics out of the way, all that's left for him to do is take an official visit to his future university. He'll make his way up for the second weekend in December, and he vows to work on any other prospects that happen to be in Ann Arbor at the same time. And he'll be hoping to meet up with one of his longtime Florida friends.
"I'm setup for December 12th or the 13th, something like that. I'm definitely going to (recruit other prospects) because it's a real good school. They struggled this past year but this freshmen class is going to get the program back on track. Other than that, I'm just going to be trying to meet the players. Me and Greg (Mathews) are real cool, I'm trying to chill with him."
Even with some rumors circulating that the Wolverine's now senior wideout has had thoughts about leaving the program, Jones stated that it is actually the complete opposite.
"He had said that it's been real tough, but if you're a freshman coming in you have a lot of chances of playing. He said that even though they had been losing, they had real good practices and they'll look real good in the future. Greg didn't have the season he expected to have, but he said he liked it (there) and he has still been trying to get me to come up."
While Jones has been busy preparing for life as a college student and finishing out his senior year both on and off the field, he has had a chance to form bonds with a future teammate.
"I talk to Ricardo (Miller) from Dr. Phillips. We talk about how we are going to come up and put a different spin on things and get the program on track. We are both solid and there's going to be no changes with that."
