With the de-commitment of Wichita Falls, TX product Shavodrick Beaver last Friday, Michigan's need for another quarterback in its 2009 class rose dramatically. Enter Deerfield Beach, Fl. two-way star Denard Robinson. The talented athlete has finalized an official to Ann Arbor for the January 9th recruiting weekend.
"I just want to see how the coaches act," he said. "I want to see how they treat the players and how the players react to them… and just seeing Michigan and what it's all about."
While it's clear that Michigan has always indicated to Robinson that he'd have a chance to compete at quarterback, Beaver's de-commitment has made that chance even more visible. It also furthers the notion that Michigan is a legitimate player for Robinson's services instead of him already being signed sealed and delivered to the Florida Gators.
"Michigan has always been right up there with Florida," Robinson insisted. "I have other schools too, but they've always been up there. I'm just going to take all my visits. My decision might be pushed all the way to signing day."
The Wolverines could put themselves in even stronger position with Robinson if their recruitment of his teammate and long time friend Adrian Whitty continues to pick up.
"That's going good," said Robinson's regarding the Maize & Blue's pursuit of Whitty. "We've been playing together since little league and having someone out there that I've been with is nice."
GoBlueWolverine will have more on Robinson and Whitty in the coming days.
