Wednesday Recruiting Notes:

Turk McBride, Ryan Patterson (not so fast!), Michael Brown, Will Paul.

1. Did not make it in to Michigan this past weekend: All-American linebacker/defensive end Claude Turk McBride (Dec. 13, 6-4, 235 lbs., 4.6 in the 40, 3.2 GPA/780 SAT) from Camden, New Jersey, Woodrow Wilson. He reportedly will reschedule his visit for January, but Miami (Jan. 17) and Tennessee (Oct. 26) are his leaders.

2. NOT a Michigan recruit: Juco DB Ryan Patterson (Jan. 10 official visit, 6-1, 200) from Pima, Ariz. CC. There was an erroneous report that he committed to Michigan, followed by a report that he was visiting Michigan Jan. 10. We did not 'follow up' on these reports by getting ahold of Patterson because we did not think either were true. As it turns out, both reports are false -- Patterson is not a Michigan recruit at this time.

3. More elusive even than Tony Hunt: Linebacker Michael Brown (Dec. 13 official visit, 6-3 1/2, 220 lbs., 4.8 in the 40) from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He did visit this past weekend, and he does reportedly have a Michigan scholarship offer.

4. By the way, we also spoke Monday night to Michigan commitment All-American defensive end Will Paul (Dec. 13 official visit, 2002 Michigan camp visitor, MSU Nike stats: 6-4, 255 lbs., 4.59 in the 40, 3.0 GPA/18 ACT) from St. Louis Parkway West, Missou. "I had a great visit. My host was Jeremy Van Alstyne, and I hung around with Sam Keller and Jim Presley. We went to the basketball game - the first half. And we ate a lot!" "I'm trying to decide whether to go into kinesiology or LS&A (the school of Literature, Arts and Science, Michigan's main 'liberal arts' school)."
