1. All-American defensive/tight end Doug Van Dyke (Dec. 6 official visit, 6-6, 235 lbs., 4.8 in the 40, 2.4 GPA/21 ACT) from Marshall, Mich. Mrs. Van Dyke confirmed to yours truly this morning that Michigan Coaches Herrman and Moeller were in his home last night! Is the Purdue-camp scuttlebutt correct that Doug had already settled on the Boilers? Oh the suspense! Also, the Marshall Athletic Office has confirmed to me that some TV stations want to cover Doug's choosing -- so there is now going to be a press conference in the Marshall High School Library at 3:00 PM today.
2. All-American running back Lynell Hamilton (Dec. 6 official visit, Stanford Nike stats: 6-0, 195 lbs., 4.25 shuttle, 28-inch vertical jump ... 4.4 in the 40, 3.0 GPA) from Stockton, Calif., Edison. Mark Ouimet knew last night that, in the wake of Brady Hoke getting the Ball State job, Coach Fred Jackson would be jumping right on a plane and flying into Hamilton's home last night.
