This is a key-KEY game for this Wolverines team - here's why.

First, regarding the Hawkeyes.

Iowa is 12-5 overall, 1-2 in the Big Ten.

Iowa dropped a 52-49 contest to No. 19/22 Minnesota Thursday night in Iowa City, its second conference loss by three points. Iowa dropped a 68-65 contest at No. 23 Ohio State Dec. 31. Sandwiched in between the losses was a 65-60 home win over Indiana.

Injury of Note: Senior forward Cyrus Tate suffered a knee injury with in the first half of the loss to Minnesota and did not return to action. Tate leads Iowa in rebounding (6.3).

*Bottom line for this game: it's KEY.

Michigan certainly can't be said to be clicking on all cylinders after having to come back from a 20-point deficit to Indiana this last Wednesday. Yes, that game was on the road, and, yes, it was at Bloomington where Wolverines go to die ... still ... this team has not yet found a comfort zone with Laval Lucas-Perry in the starting lineup.

Today wold be a greeeeat day to get comfortable ... because this game against a good-not-great Iowa team at home is an absolute necessity if the Wolverines expect to climb over the Hawkeyes in the Big Ten standings towards first-division territory.

This game, today, will tell us a lot about whether these Wolverines are really ready to climb up out of the lower-Big-Ten muck once and for all.
