Yours truly talked to All-American defensive lineman Carnell Stewart (6-5, 290 lbs., 4.8 in the 40, 415-lb. bench press, 2.8 GPA) from River Ridge, Louisiana, John Curtis Christian.
What do you think about Michigan these days?
"They did pretty good this season. I was looking for them to beat Ohio State, but they came real close."
Do you have a Michigan visit set?
"I'm going to visit Michigan on the 31 of January. Coach Jackson set the visit with me on the phone."
What other visits do you have now?
"I've already visited Colorado, and I go to Florida Jan. 10th, LSU Jan. 14th, and Miami Jan. 24th. I'm going to take them all before I begin to make my decision."
Note: at the beginning of the week there was a report that Colorado , Miami and Michigan were his top three, but at that time he didn't have his visit schedule complete. Now his visit 'dance card' has been filled, and he did not want to give a top three.
As far as Carnell's season:
"We finished 14-1 and won the state state championship. For the season I had 94 tackles, 19 sacks, four pass knock-downs, five fumble recoveries, four punt blocks and four field goal blocks ... I ran back one fumble recovery 89 yards before I was caught from behind just short of a touchdown."
Stewart is The Insiders #74 prospect, and is on the roster of the US Army All-Star Game.
