Top Florida Prospects – Dade County (Part 1)

The Wolverines have three coaches on the ground in Florida. By comparison, the only state with as many is Ohio and the only state with more is Michigan. The newfound significance of the Sunshine State, has prompted GoBlueWolverine to assemble lists of the top players in the talent hotbed, region by region. We begin the journey today in the South Florida county of Dade.

RB- Eduardo Clements, Booker T Washington, 5'11, 195
*Second Team All County by the Miami Herald.  The state's most experienced and most complete back.  His numbers are down because of the offense he is in. A between the tackles tough runner with enough juice to run past you. Elite hands for a running back.  Has had big games against great competition.  Not the fastest nor shiftiest, but will surprise in both areas and excels in tight spaces. Capable of being a workhorse at the next level.

WR- Michaelee Harris, Miami Northwestern, 6'2, 180
*All the tools at the WR spot including good deep speed and solid frame.  Needs a little more consistency.  Capable of the big play or going over the middle of the field.  Elite hands.

DE- Corey Lemonier, Hialeah, 6'4, 235
*Second Team All County bythe Miami Herald. Looks like he can step onto college field and contribute right away.  Quick first step and raw power are best attributes.  Needs to use his long arms and hands better.  Can take over a game if he wants to.
CB- Lamarcus Joyner, Southwest Miami, 5'9, 165

*2nd Team All-State for 6A.  First Team All County by the Miami Herald.  Two way star, he had 112 tackles with four sacks on defense.  Offensively he had 472 yards receiving with seven touchdowns. Elite play-maker who has a natural understanding of the game.  Big hitter.  Plays and looks bigger than his measurables.  Quick hips and make up speed are best attributes.

QB-  Jeff Godfrey, Miami Central, 5'11, 170
*2nd Team All-State for 6A.  First Team All County by the Miami Herald.  Threw for 2,136 yards and 26 touchdowns. Good athlete, but is on the short side.  Has a cannon for an arm and can make every throw on the field.  Needs to be more consistent.  Has gotten better from freshmen to sophomore and sophomore to junior years.  Experienced.

QB- Stephen Morris, Monsignor Pace, 6'2, 185
*Second Team All County by the Miami Herald.  Threw for 2,005 yards with 19 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.  Terrific athlete with 4.6 type speed.  Has a great arm both in velocity and distance he can throw.  Has some mechanical things that need to be addressed like holding the ball too low, but overall a great physical package with a ton of upside.  Led Pace to an upset of undefeated Glades Central in the playoffs.

QB- Michael Strauss, Gulliver, 6'2, 190
*First Team All-State for 2A.  First Team All Dade by the Miami Herald.  Was 195/298 for 3,113 yards with 32 touchdowns.  Solid size with good arm strength.  Flourished in Gulliver's spread attack.
RB- Brandon Gainer, Miami Central, 6'0, 190
*2nd Team All-State for 6A.  First Team All County by the Miami Herald.  Ran for 1,644 yards on 185 carries(8.9) with 17 touchdowns. Gainer has soft hands out of the backfield and is a solid student off the field.   Can run past or through you.  Another Miami Central prospect with a ton of experience.

RB - Jakhari Gore, Columbus, 5'10, 175
*2nd Team All-State for 6A.  First Team All County by the Miami Herald.  Ran for 1,156 yards on 148 carries(7.8) and had 15 touchdowns.  Related to Frank, he is a smaller, shifty back with solid burst and play-making skills. Has been getting carries since freshmen year, it should be his team as a senior.  Needs to continue to add weight.  Shifty type who is looking for a seam to bust one.

RB/ATH- Corvin Lamb, Miami Northwestern, 5'9, 180
*Second Team All County by the Miami Herald. Fast, fast, fast.  Did most of his damage on special teams, specifically kickoff returns.  Sat behind two D-1 running backs who were seniors. Should be his time to shine as a senior.  Has the intangibles to be a game-breaking threat at the next level.

RB-  Hosey Williams, Southwest Miami, 5'8, 160
*Third Team All County by the Miami Herald. Elusive athlete with burst and quickness.  Big play threat.  Needs to add some size.  Ran 106 times for 1,095 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior.  Was over 1,000 yards as a freshmen and sophomore.

RB- DeAndre Johnson, Monsignor Pace, 5'8, 190
*First Team All County by the Miami Herald.  Had 155 carries for 1,121 yards with 10 touchdowns.  Shared time as a junior, but should see bigger role as senior.

RB- Jeff Scott, Archbishop Carroll, 5'7, 160
*2nd Team All-State for 2A.  First Team All County by the Miami Herald.  160 carries for 1,393 yards with 23 touchdowns.  Big play threat with elite burst.  Undersized, but could find a home as a change of pace back/slot wide receiver.

WR- Willis Wright, Miami Springs, 6'1, 185
*Second Team All County by the Miami Herald.   Physical wide receiver/safety prospect who is a natural athlete.  Uses his hands to create separation as a wide receiver.   Wright excels at running routes, has 4.5 speed, and blocks in the running game.  He had 22 catches for 529 yards(24.0) and 8 touchdowns as a junior.
