Top Florida Prospects – Dade County (Part 3)

The Wolverines have three coaches on the ground in Florida. By comparison, the only state with as many is Ohio and the only state with more is Michigan. The newfound significance of the Sunshine State, has prompted GoBlueWolverine to assemble lists of the top players in the talent hotbed, region by region. We continue our journey today even more players from Dade county.

DT-  Ricky Joseph, Miami Northwestern, 6'2, 280
*Great DT frame, plays physical.  Outstanding athlete.  Needs technique.  Has good motor for big man.

DT- Calvin Smith, Hialeah, 6'3, 270
*Third Team All County by Miami Herald.  Nice frame.   Good athleticism.  Needs to bring it on every play.

LB- Gideon Ajagbe, Ransom Everglades, 6'2, 200
*2nd Team All-State for 2B.  First Team All County by the Miami Herald.  Two-way star who rushed for 1354 yards and registered 57 tackles.  Great feet and enough speed to be a sideline to sideline type.  Will hit you time and again.  Great frame for the college game as he projects to the 6'2, 230 area.

LB- Rashard Gaitor, Miami Northwestern, 6'1, 210
*Physical linebacker who loves to hit.  Has good, not great pure speed.  Displays good instincts.   Sheds blockers well.

LB- Ralph Williams, Gulliver Prep,  6'1, 215
*2nd Team All-State for 2A.  First Team All County by the Miami Herald.   Played defensive end, but projects to linebacker.   Had 18 sacks and 81 tackles for state runner-up team.  Solid 4.6-4.7 speed.   Needs to work on using his hands and playing in space.

LB- Isaac Dixon, Monsignor Pace, 5'11, 190
*Honorable Mention All-State for 3A.  Second Team All County by Miami Herald as a sophomore.  Has played all three linebacker spots.  Solid instincts.

LB- Derrick Dansby, Miami Central, 6'1, 190
*2nd Team All-State for 6A.  First Team All County by the Miami Herald.  63 solo tackles, three sacks.  Classic Dade County sideline to sideline hitter at the LB spot.  Needs to add a little weight.  Type to be a real riser senior year.

CB- Ravonne Carter, Hialeah, 5'11, 170
*Smaller cover corner with great skill.  Hialeah is starting to assemble some talent and he is a big part of that (Lemonier, Smith).  Can mirror wide receivers with quick hips and skills.

CB- Richard Leonard, Killian, 5'9, 160
*Second Team All County by the Miami Herald. Tough, physical player who plays much bigger than his size.  Rare corner who can deliver the knockout blow at his size.  Can turn and run with faster wide receivers.  Height is an issue.  Can fly.

CB- Khalid Marshall, Miami Northwestern, 5'10, 160
*Second Team All County by the Miami Herald.   Has started for two years for national power Miami Northwestern.  Smooth cover corner who knows how to lock-down opposing wide receiver.  Needs to get more physical in the running game.

CB-  Gareef Glashen, Carol City, 5'10, 180
*Has the speed and athleticism teams are looking for.  Sub 4.5 40, 28 inch vertical, and somewhat stocky.   The tools are there and he might be one of the yearly Dade County risers after a big senior season.

CB-  Normando Harris, Miami Pace, 6'0, 170
*Great size at cornerback.  Has man skills and a frame to hold 190-195.   Saw Webster and Griffin every day in practice.

S- Demetrius Pettway, Homestead, 5'11, 180
*Third Team All County by the Miami Herald.  Solid across the board, Pettway shows great range, ball skills and will hit.  Projects to safety where his upside is outstanding.  Finds the ball in the air and has close to cornerback skills.

S- Darren Kitchens, Homestead, 6'2, 195
*Tools.   Potent combo with Pettway.  The bigger of the two safety prospects.  Has all the tools and capable of putting it together on the field.

S- Jn-eddy Charles, Miami Edison, 5'11, 185
*Dade County safety with athleticism, hitter's mentality, and range.
