Top Fla Prospects: Palm Beach County (Part 1)

The Wolverines have three coaches on the ground in Florida. By comparison, the only state with as many is Ohio and the only state with more is Michigan. The newfound significance of the Sunshine State, has prompted GoBlueWolverine to assemble lists of the top players in the talent hotbed, region by region. We continue the journey today in the South Florida county of Palm Beach.

WR- Chris Dunkley, Royal Palm Beach, 5'11, 170
*2nd Team All-State for 6A.  Offensive Player of the year for Palm Beach County by the Sun-Sentinel.  Second Team All County by the Palm Beach Post.  Dunkley is a player who can score from anywhere on the field.   He had 14 touchdowns combined rushing, receiving, and on special teams.  He had 638 yards receiving.  Potential national recruit.  Timed at 4.43 in the 4

WR- De'Joshua Johnson, Pahokee, 5'11, 160
*Second Team All County by the Palm Beach Post and Sun-Sentinel.  Johnson may be the quickest player in the state.  Can make you look silly in the open field.   Outstanding burst.  Solid deep speed.  Played QB, but projects to WR at the next level.  A little on the skinny side.

DE- Gerald Christian, Dwyer, 6'3, 225
*2nd Team All-State for 4A.  First Team All County by the Palm Beach Post and Sun-Sentinel.  Christian, a two way stand out, registered 87 tackles and 10 sacks on defense with 9 tackles for loss.   Could play TE, LB, or DE at the next level.  Outstanding athlete.  Explosive first step.   A football player.

S- Matt Elam(Florida), Dwyer, 6'0, 205
*First Team All-State for 4A.  First Team All County by Palm Beach Post and Sun-Sentinel.  Defensive Player of the Year for Palm Beach County.   4.5 speed.  Complete player on both sides of the ball, big-time play-maker.  Over 400 rushing and 700 receiving yards on offense, 100+ tackles on defense.  Brother(Abram) plays for the Jets.   Only question is how big Elam gets.

QB-  L.J. Thomas, Glades Central, 6'2, 175
*Second Team All-State for 3A.  First Team All County by the Palm Beach Post. Second Team All County by the Sun-Sentinel.  Thomas threw for 2,022 yards and 26 touchdowns while completing 62.4% of his passes.

QB- Marshyl Rothman, Jupiter Christian, 5'10, 170
*First Team All-State for 1B.  First Team All County by the Palm Beach Post and Sun-Sentinel.  All Rothman does is make play after play.  He has led Jupiter Christian to back to back State Championships.  Had the area's highest completion percentage.  3.85 GPA and 1130 SAT.  Threw for 1,499 yards with 25 touchdowns against just six interceptions.  Rushed for 734 yards.  Had a camp best 3.97 shuttle at FIU's camp.  Only concern is height.

RB- Antwan Chisolm, Glades Central, 5'8, 170
*Ran for 529 yards on 55 carries(9.6) and eight touchdowns.  Caught six balls for 122 yards.   Big play threat who is best used in a spread based attack where his burst will be on display.  Shared time with Antonio McCloude, should be feature back as a senior.

RB- Will Powers, Jupiter Christian, 5'10, 205
*First Team All-State for 1B.  First Team All County on defense by the Palm Beach Post.  Outstanding two way player.  Rushed for 1,546 yards and 19 touchdowns.  Registered 120 tackles with five sacks.  Powers is just a flat player.  Lack of ideal height might be an issue, but he is just too good on the field to let that get in the way.  Natural football player with great instincts.

WR- Dennis Hall, Pahokee, 5'10, 170
*Caught 26 balls for 413 yards and six touchdowns.  Big catch in state championship game for win. Plays bigger than his size.  Had 10 catches for 173 yards as a sophomore with three scores.

WR-  Fred Pickett, Pahokee,  5'9, 155
*18 catches for 252 yards and three scores.  Elusive and shifty with outstanding burst.

WR-  Jerome Thomas, West Boca Raton, 6'0, 175
*Elite athletically.  As a sophomore was top combine performer with 32.5 inch vertical, 4.53 40, and 9'7" broad jump.  Deep threat.  Had 12 catches for 167 yards.

OG- Shane McDermott, Palm Beach Central, 6'3, 250
*First Team All County by the Sun-Sentinel.  Classic old school guard who plays tough.
