Bakich's Baseball Review (Week 3)

Michigan baseball coach Eric Bakich sat down with Sam Webb on Sports Talk 1050 WTKA this week to review his team's 5-0 record over the first leg of its spring break trip. The The Wolverines swept Siena 4-0 before finishing its stint in Florida with a 6-3 victory over Siena.

SCOUTING UMBC -- The Retrievers (1-2) fell to Richmond, 3-2, and split with Lafayette in their first three games of 2015. UMBC has had five cancellations due to weather. Hunter Dolshun started the season 7-for-11 at the plate. Michigan will face lefty Joe Vanderplas on Friday. He is 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA.

SCOUTING TOLEDO -- The Rockets (3-7) lost 3-of-4 games to Virginia Tech last weekend in Myrtle Beach. AJ Montoya is hitting .375 with four doubles and a home run. Michigan will see lefty Steven Calhoun on Saturday. He has an 0-1 record with a 3.71 ERA.

SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA -- The Chanticleers (8-4) are coming off a 5-1 win over The Citadel on Wednesday night. Connor Owings leads CCU with a .341 batting average and 10 RBI. Michigan will face right-hander Chase Adkins on Saturday. He is 1-2 with a 3.00 ERA.

SCOUTING AKRON -- The Zips (5-4) went 1-2 in last weekend's Mercer Baseball Classic, defeating Belmont 8-3 on Saturday. Dom Iero has a team-best 11 RBI for Akron. Michigan will see lefty Pat Dyer, who also started against U-M in 2013.

LUGBAUER DOUBLES HIS FUN IN STETSON WIN -- Freshman Drew Lugbauer doubled three times, scored twice and drove in a run in Michigan's 6-3 win over Stetson on Tuesday night (March 3). Lugbauer doubled in the second, fourth and eighth innings and now has seven hits and four runs scored on the year.
