Matt James, the mammoth Cincinnati St. Xavier tackle, received a slew of scholarship offers when he could first receive them last year in September. The Michigan Wolverines were one of the official offers that found its way to him.
"They offered me really early. The offered the first official day they could offer me a scholarship. They're one of a lot of schools, and I'm thinking of taking a visit. I'm not sure yet. I have to check my schedule yet."
While many are assuming he's likely to stay much closer to home or head off the SEC or ACC country, James states he's trying to give everyone a fair shake, even if on the outset it doesn't appear that way.
"I don't know. I'd like to say yes, but I only have so much time to visit all these places and check out the schedules and different things. It's hard when you have so many offers to get everywhere you want. I'll try to get out as much as possible."
Even though a visit is still up in the air, the Wolverines were a team James had paid attention to during Lloyd Carr's 12 year tenure as the Maize and Blue headman.
"I used to watch them a lot when I was kid. I haven't paid too much attention since Rodriguez got there. And I haven't really seen the campus or anything like that."
James may get the chance to take in the campus should he be able to possibly squeeze in a visit with his already hectic schedule.
"I've got some things coming up in the next few weeks. I just have some things outside football. I'm trying to get all over the place. Just trying to work out my schedule really."
