For two years now, Eagle Lake, Fl safety Marvin Robinson has professed his love for Michigan. On numerous occasions during that same period he has come extremely close to pledging to the Wolverines before deciding to hold off so he could explore his other options. However, after his weekend visit to Ann Arbor for Michigan's spring game, Robinson is openly wondering how any of his other suitors can possibly surpass the Maize & Blue.
"It was unbelievable," Robinson said regarding his spring game visit. "They had a lot of people… more people than I expected to be out there for the spring game. The fans were great. Talking to the coaches was great. We've all got great relationships with each other. Hanging out with different recruits like Devin Gardner and Ricardo (Miller) mostly the whole time I was up there was good. We were hanging out with some of the players that are already on the team. They were showing us around different places and things. Overall the whole thing was wonderful."
If the atmosphere wasn't enough to push Robinson off the recruiting fence, the prodding from the Wolverine commitments and the coaching staff may have been.
"Ricardo, he's a good friend of mine," said Robinson. "He's always working on me trying to get me over (to Michigan)and everything. (The coaches) were basically telling me that if I come, I basically could start at safety position. I've still got to work hard and prove that I've got the ability to start, but they said basically I can start if I do what I got to do on the field and everything."
Throw in scores of autograph seeking fans and it was enough to make Robinson feel like he was already a Wolverine. The experience wasn't enough to convince him to pull the trigger that day, but did it move him closer to it?
"It sort of did but in another way Michigan never left my list of schools," he said. "They always were on the top of my list. It just pushed it another step on the visit."
The only question left now is when will Robinson take the plunge?
"I'd say in probably two to three weeks. If not then it will be (during) my spring football season. In between there somewhere."
At this point the four teams in major contention are Michigan, Georgia, Alabama, and Ohio State. When asked once again if the Wolverines are on top as he closes in on decision date, his answer was simple and brief.
GoBlueWolverine will have more on Marvin in the coming days and weeks.
