Sam Webb: Talk about your game a little bit. Break down Khairi Fortt's game for people that haven't seen you play?
Khairi Fortt: "First, I had 118 tackles this season. I had two interceptions, one that I ran back for a touchdown. I'm a big target, but I have a lot of lineman trying to hit me ... but I'm a sideline to sideline player, tracking people down from behind and also catching the running back in the backfield. I use my hands a lot. I throw a couple of people around a little bit (laughter)."
Sam Webb: What's your height, weight and 40 time?
Khairi Fortt: "Right now, I'm 6'2 1/2", 228, around 4.56."
Sam Webb: How many offers do you have at this point in time?
Khairi Fortt: "I have 27."
Sam Webb: Out of those 27, have you identified the schools that are recruiting you the hardest right now?
Khairi Fortt: "A lot of coaches have connected with me. All of them have been fairly the same. Boston College has been pushing me the most out of everybody. They've been sending me the most letters and stuff. Like doing some email stuff and just keeping in contact a little more."
Sam Webb: Have you received an offer from Michigan yet?
Khairi Fortt: "Yes, I have."
Sam Webb: When did that come through?
Khairi Fortt: "Last week."
Sam Webb: Do you have any interest at all in the Wolverines?
Khairi Fortt: "Yeah, yeah, yeah I do."
Sam Webb: Have you gotten to the point where you started narrowing your list down to a top five yet?
Khairi Fortt: "Naw, I don't have a top five right now. It is still in the narrowing process."
Sam Webb: Did the Michigan offer sort of just come out of the blue?
Khairi Fortt: "Yeah. ‘Congratulations Khairi, you have an offer from Michigan (laughing).'"
Sam Webb: So it sounds like you're kind of surprised by that?
Khairi Fortt: "I was really."
Sam Webb: Before Michigan offered you, did you have any interest or are you now interested as a result of them offering?
Khairi Fortt: "Well now that they offered me, I've got some interest. At first I didn't really consider them because I've never spoke to anybody from over there. Just out of the blue they sent me an offer, so alright… I'll take some interest, look it up on the computer. I think they've been sending me some letters. I think I have to call a coach."
Sam Webb: When you get ready to sit down and make your decision, what are going to be the most significant factors in your choice?
Khairi Fortt: "Number one, first and foremost, academics obviously. Also, I want to get a feel for the guys that I'm going to spend my four years with. How do I get along with them and how do I get along with the coaches? Also my environment and my social life. Distance, I would say, plays a little factor. It depends … I don't know."
Sam Webb: Which schools have you visited thus far?
Sam Webb: You've already hit the road quite a bit. Is that going to be it for you as far as spring and summer visits go, or are you going to hit the road some more for some more unofficials?
Khairi Fortt: "Yeah, I think that's it for spring right now. We're going to fly out in early June."
Sam Webb: Are you going to be going to camps at schools in June or are you going to just be going to take more visits?
Sam Webb: Do you have a timeline for when you'd like to make your choice?
Khairi Fortt: "I was thinking probably in the beginning of the season."
