Cromartie at the Calif./Fla. All Star Game

GBW's West Coast Correspondent Don Hoekwater attended the CaliFlorida IV Bowl Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. Playing QB for the Calif. squad was Michigan commitment Sam Keller. And Michigan recruit Antonio Cromartie was a surprise member of the Fla. team as well. Don was able to talk to both players after the game. First his interview, with photos, of Cromartie.

The first question to All-American wide receiver/cornerback Antonio Cromartie (6-4, 200 lbs., 4.4 in the 40, 10.7 100 meters, 2.5 GPA) from Tallahassee, Fla., Lincoln: is he still visiting Michigan?

"Yes, I'm visiting Michigan on the 10th." (Note: Cromartie will be visiting Florida, Miami, and Florida State after his Michigan trip.)

What do you like about Michigan?

"They've had a great program for the last 10-15 years that I've been old enough to notice. I've liked Michigan since I was little. It's pretty far away from home. And I've never seen snow before."

What have the Michigan coaches been saying in regards to playing at Michigan?

"The coaches are telling me I can play on both sides of the ball, and that I can come in and play as a true freshman. Others schools tell me that as well."

As far as a leader, and when he will decide.

"I don't want to talk about a leader because I haven't made all my visits yet. I will make my decision on signing day."

In the CaliFlorida game, Cromartie played cornerback for the Florida team.

Cromartie is tall and fast and covers the field very well. California didn't go his way much (Sam Keller knew better and never threw to his side) and when they did, there was no escape as he knocked down (or once, intercepted) anything thrown his way.

Cromartie returned kicks as well. He has extremely long legs that enable him to get to where he is going in a hurry!
