Olaniyan has netted a number of impressive offers in recent weeks, but the big fish in the bunch was Oklahoma.
"The (Oklahoma) defensive coordinator stopped by my school looking for me last Monday. We weren't there. We were actually on the way back from Cincinnati so he called my coach. He offered through the phone."
The increased attention from outside the state has certainly been matched by that of the Michigan coaching staff. Olaniyan receives consistent reminders of his status as one of the top players on the Maize & Blue board from his recruiter, Rod Smith
"He's a nice cat," Olaniyan said regarding Smith. "He came through and watched us do a little seven on seven thing. (During a later phone conversation) he said was impressed by what I did on the offensive side. He said might have to put me on offense."
At this point the Warren Mott star still claims no favorites, but his numerous visits have been instrumental in helping him get closer to establishing a leaderboard. There are still a few trips left on the spring docket, and they may very well be the last ones he takes before trimming things down.
"I'm trying to hit Wisconsin and Indiana," he reported. "I'm trying to hit those and then I might cool down until the summertime or something. A couple of schools asked about camps. I think Iowa and Michigan State asked. I might not have time for that though, because football… we're starting that up two days after school gets out. Plus I've got AAU and stuff, so I don't know."
Stay tuned for more from Olaniyan in the coming days.
