Michigan Making Play for Royer

The Michigan coaching staff has been a busy bunch this week, visiting top prospects. Their travels continued Thursday afternoon in Pennsylvania where they dropped in on one nation's best linebackers, Manheim (PA) Central's Dakota Royer.

"Coach Gibson was just in my school today" said Manheim (PA) Central standout, Dakota Royer.

As it turns out, Gibson is a familiar face.

"I met him before at Michigan at a game last year," Royer recalled.  "We already knew each other.  His visit went well."

Despite the obvious interest early on, Royer's name has rarely been linked with Michigan.  He has a ton of offers, but there was prevalent speculation that he was down to a few schools and would be ready to decide soon.  However, Royer insists that rumors of his pending commitment are untrue.

"I'm not a big fan or anything," Royer said.  "I just played ball so I never really followed one school.  I've been to Pitt and PSU, but I'm really open to everybody."

The Wolverines clearly have some work to do if they want to have any chance in landing Royer.  Fortunately for them, time is on their side.

"I'm playing in the Under Armour All-Star game, so I'll be making a late decision," he said.

When asked about what he's looking for in a school, Royer said it's simple.

"The academics, and just being able to wake up everyday and like the school."

GoBlueWolverine will have more on Royer in the coming weeks.
