Is U-M Still In It For Hamilton?

We'd been hearing the stories: that Michigan is essentially out of it for Stockton, Calif. Edison running back Lynell Hamilton, that Oregon is the big leader, that his mom and dad insist that he stays close to home, etc. Here is what Lynell's mother had to say.

Yours truly talked to the mother of All-American running back Lynell Hamilton (Dec. 6 official visit, Stanford Nike stats: 6-0, 195 lbs., 4.25 shuttle, 28-inch vertical jump ... 4.4 in the 40, 3.0 GPA) from Stockton, Calif., Edison.

There are reports that Michigan more or less out of it for Lynell, and that Oregon is the leader. Is there any truth to that?

"We have been talking about all the different schools. We want what's best for Lynell. But no school is out of it at all. Lynell likes Michigan a lot -- and his dad loves Michigan."

"Lynell still has two visits left, to San Diego State this weekend, and to Alabama A&M the next weekend."

Are you and Mr. Hamilton interested in Lynell staying close to home?

"We are interested in what a school has to offer, moreso than the distance from home."

"And Michigan has so many programs to offer."

Michigan Head Coach Lloyd Carr has not yet made his in-home visit with the Hamiltons.
