The University of Michigan knows all they need to about Southwest Dekalb's (Georgia) defensive end T.J. Stripling. He's 6-6, 210 pounds, runs a 4.5 forty, had recorded 15 sacks as a junior. What else is there to know?
Stripling, however, isn't as well read on the Maize and Blue as they are on him.
"I have to do my research on Michigan," he told GoBlueWolverine. "I'm researching all my schools right now, trying to narrow it down before the season starts. [Michigan is] definitely be one of my top schools to do a hard background check on."
Stripling's strength lies in his pass-rushing ability, but he knows he'll need to add girth to his long frame if he hopes to succeed at the next level, which college coaches have already expressed to him.
"I'll have to put on until I'm at least 240," he said. "I'm quick coming off the end but the thing I would have to work on the most would be my strength, of course, and stopping the run."
Michigan is one of several schools to have also extended an offer to his CB teammate Jonathon Mincy as well as to Stripling.
Will the possibility of suiting up together with his teammate Mincy on Saturdays influence their decisions?
"That has crossed our minds … but not really," Stripling said. "Right now we just see what schools are a better fit and if it happens to be the same one for both of us, then that would be great."
In fact, Stripling said that he and are talking about coming to the Big House Bar-B-Q this Saturday, and that, "We'll decide on Thursday" whether to come up.
Stripling and Mincy both plan on attending camp at Ohio State this summer, and they are considering attending one at the University of Miami as well.
If they don't BBQ this weekend, look for them to visit Ann Arbor this summer when they come up to camp at OSU.
