"I had a great time up (at Michigan)," White said reflecting on his Elite Camp experience. "I always do. It was good to see the coaches and everything like that."
The 6-0, 190-pounder put on show during the camp by exhibiting unparalleled receiving skills among group of tailbacks. Since an admittedly sub-par pass-catching display at Scout.com's 7-on-7 passing camp in Columbus, White has been a lights out receiver at a number of events.
"When I went down to Columbus, I realized how long it's been since my brother has been home," White said. "When my brothers were home we were just always throwing the ball around. (White's brother Mitchell) was a quarterback, so it would be a pretty nice ball most of the time. When they went to college, I kind of stopped doing that stuff. So when I went to Columbus I realized how rusty I actually was. So it was in my mind that I definitely wanted to be a better ball catcher, because it was kind of embarrassing down there."
His far from embarrassing effort in Ann Arbor certainly caught Rich Rodriguez's attention, and Michigan's headman made sure to remind White what a priority he is for the Maize & Blue.
"He was letting me know that they really wanted me to commit, that they had some spots (left in the class), and that they were willing to hold them for a while," White recalled. "They said that they like my mentality on the field and everything like that – they're definitely interested."
Though not yet ready to offer his commitment, he is ready to discuss where Michigan currently stands on his list.
"Right now it's kind of hard to say that they're my favorite, but I really like Michigan right now because I feel real comfortable at their campus and with their coaches," White explained. "It's just hard because other places I haven't seen yet and the places that I have… there are great coaches and great places all over. It's tough, but right now I'd say I like Michigan the best… but it's definitely still a hard decision to make."
Michigan obviously isn't the only program in hot pursuit of Scout.com's #17 RB and a few of them have separated themselves from the pack as well.
"Definitely Michigan State (is high on the list) because of my family there and and the nice environment," White stated. "I would say Iowa (is high on the list). I really like the coaches there and those are good people too. I think I can fit in Illinois offense as well."
White has already visited the aforementioned schools, but hasn't yet made his way to the campuses to his southern suitors. At the moment his previously planned southern tour is a bit up in the air.
"I don't know if we are going to go (on visits to southern schools) or not, but I think I'm going to Florida on July 23rd," he said. "I'm going for a camp down there. ESPN Rise. It is not affiliated with any all star type or anything like that. It is just a camp where some players from around there get to meet up and work out together."
Currently White is in the midst of working out with his high school team in preparation for his final campaign at Livonia Stevenson. The progress they've made thus far has been encouraging.
"I'm really impressed this year," said White. "We started our little passing league and we did that twice. Out of all three teams (hit three years at Stevenson), this one definitely works the hardest, and that is what I think is going to make us such a good team. All the way down to the last players we're are working hard to make us better."
GoBlueWolverine will have more on White in the coming weeks.
