Bits from Burgess

In preparation for the upcoming GBW Signing Day Magazine, we are interviewing all of Michigan's commitments. Yesterday yours truly had a nice chat with Prescott Burgess. Here are a couple things he said that that you should find intriguing.

A Tony Hunt tidbit as well.

We had another nice chat with All-American ‘athlete' Prescott Burgess (Dec. 13 official visit, 2002 Michigan camper, 6-3, 220 lbs., 4.59 in the 40 at the OSU Camp, 3.0 GPA/16 ACT) from Warren, Ohio, Harding Wednesday. Here are a couple interesting things he said to us.

"At the US Army Game week I hung around Shawn (Crable), [... a few other kids ...] and Ryan (Mundy) some."

Have you talked to Shawn since?

"No I haven't. But I was actually just thinking of calling him and talking to him. He gave me his number."

By the way, Burgess said he is NOT playing on the Harding basketball team.

"I am not playing basketball this winter (he played other years). I'm lifting weights, with my injured shoulder (he injured it in the preseason) I hadn't been able to lift much, and my bench press has gone down a little. My shoulder is 100% now -- it was 100% at the US Army Game. I'm getting ready to run track though. I'll run the 200 meters, and some relays."

Another tidbit regarding running back/linebacker Tony Hunt (Dec. 13 official visit, 6-2, 225 lbs., Maryland camp stats: 4.52 in the 40, 28 reps of 185 lbs., 33-inch vertical jump) from Alexandria, Vir., T. C. Williams.

According the the LionNews.com report in the "Hot News" above, Maryland coaches were in Hunt's home Tuesday night, and Michigan assistant coach Eric Campbell was probably there last night (Coach Carr was in the home last week). PSU Head Coach Paterno makes his in-home visit tonight (Thursday). Opinion: things point to PSU perhaps being the leader.
