For Cullen Christian the long and winding recruiting road is on the verge of reaching its end, and it couldn't come soon enough
"Everything's good," stated the four-star prospect. "I'm just getting a little tired from all these visits and stuff like that. I'm just taking all these visits and stuff and weighing everything out. On the 7th, I'm going to Pitt, on the 14th to Ohio State and then the 21st I'm going to Michigan."
The Maize & Blue had long been Christian's favorite, but a recent visit to West Virginia reportedly put his leanings back in flux. That led many recruiting observers to speculate that his strong feelings for Michigan had waned recently.
"I can't sit here and tell you that," said Christian. "It's like a buildup… I'm just trying to look at every school wisely. Growing up Michigan has been a favorite and I wasn't paying attention to other schools. If (fans and observers) were in the same position as me they would (weight their options) too. You really got to give everybody a look. I'm just going to give everybody a look."
In giving West Virginia a more thorough look the 6-1 190-pounder learned some favorable things about the Mountaineer program.
"Basically every school I go to, I just really look at an opportunity there," Christian explained. "The biggest thing is opportunity I'm looking at. That's how Michigan been my top school, because I just felt like they had the most opportunity, but then I look at West Virginia and I see the same there. I see the coaching and everything like that. I was just impressed with Coach Lockwood's coaching. That gave me a second thought."
While it's clear that Christian is paying more attention to all of the programs on his list, he insists that it hasn't come at Michigan's expense.
"I've still been watching (Michigan) on TV," he said. "I seen Michigan's game (against Penn State) and everything like that. When they lose a game like that, I'm not just looking at the score. I was paying attention to all the mistakes and everything they made like that. I was looking at the secondary and that is where they need help."
Whether they will get that help from Christian remains to be seen. If a pecking order does still exist, he plans to keep it pretty close to the vest until November 24th.
Well… he did offer one little clue.
"I've got a top five, but the top three right now is West V, Michigan, and UCLA," said Christian. "But that's not in any order."
