New Football Hire

Michigan makes an important new hire for its football staff -- but it may not be what you think.

From former Assistant Recruiting Coordinator Mark Ouimet.

"Regarding an assistant football coach, Corwin Brown has interviewed for the job. He might be the leading candidate, but Michigan is not finished interviewing. The Mallorys (Doug, who is at Oklahoma State, and Mike, who is at Indiana) are still possibilities one has to assume."

"Michigan has hired a new video assistant. Now don't laugh -- that is the position that Jim Boccher hired in at here, and then he went to 'grad assistant special teams coach,' and now to an assistant coach. Likewise, that is the positon that Steve Morrison hired in at as well, and now he is 'grad assistant outside linebackers coach'. So that is a key entry position for Michigan."

Mark Collins is from from East Tennessee State. He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and is a 1997 East Tennessee State graduate (and team captain his senior year) who has been an assistant coach there for four years. This past year he was outside linebackers and special teams coach.
